A Guide to Buying a Home

Green Bar

Owning a home is the American Dream,
and that dream is more alive
today than ever before.

One of the first things that a prospective home buyer realizes is that their “dream home” does not always seem affordable. The process of buying a home has changed in the last several years. Buyers in the past usually shopped for the best house they could find and then tried to arrange the financing.

Today, prospective buyers must start with the financing ... shopping for the best loan they can obtain BEFORE they actually start to look for the right house. In today’s market, the financing aspect is more important than ever before.

Buy Home

If you are ready to buy a home in Maryland, particularly in the Counties where I work, the first thing that you need to do is Contact Me so that we can discuss the process in detail.

You might want to take a few minutes, though, to read the bio that I prepared, just so you will get an idea of how I work.

Experience has taught me that buying a home involves a series of common stages for all home buyers. To help you understand that process, and make the most of every day and every dollar that you spend, Long & Foster Real Estate, Inc. prepared this Home Buyers Guide. I have tailored it somewhat to suit my individual philosophy and marketing strategy as "Your Maryland 'Net Realtor". It will provide you with an overview of the home buying process from start to finish.

Of course, this guide cannot answer all your questions. For specific answers, you should Contact Me to ask any questions that you have. After all, helping you fulfill your homeownership dream is my business. The links below are designed to help you get started and explain the process of buying a home in generic terms.

There are many sources for finding homes that are available to buy. One of them is right here with my help, using the resources of the Multiple Listing Service. The second is to look into new home developments that are offered directly to consumers by builders and developers. The third is to investigate homes that are For Sale By Owner (FSBOs). I can help you with any of these options, although the strategy will be a little bit different for each.
